Reading Group: Holes (Discussion 5/23, Tue.)

文章 Rock »

HI, guys, I'm moving some of the information from our Line group to here. Honestly, I don't like to discuss there in Line. The font is not elder friendly.

Anyway, we are in the middle of our reading schedule, which means we are supposed to read half of the book, up to page 65, or the end of chapter 25. It's not a children's story anymore, if you know what I mean.

The following questions are from Iris.
"Holes" Book Reading:
The story and characters are nicely arranged; the plots and an old creepy curse were interestingly interwoven.

Some of my questions for discussion:
1) How was the curse played out in the whole story?
2) What moral lessons were implied in the story?
3) How do you describe the main character, the young Stanley Yelnats? Does he believe in fate or free will?
4) Was justice finally served? How? Was the curse finally lifted?
In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.
